Delhi Court orders framing of charges against Brij Bhushan in wrestlers' sexual harassment case
Prime Minister Narendra Modi reaffirmed the government's commitment to fighting corruption and expressed optimism about securing a historic third term. He emphasized that any level of corruption affects the people of India, and action against those who misuse funds intended for public welfare will continue. Pushing back against Opposition claims, Modi stated that the government is not using investigative agencies to undermine democracy. In an interview, the PM also expressed confidence in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) winning a third term in the upcoming general elections. He highlighted the government's achievements over the past decade, including development, welfare initiatives, infrastructure projects, and significant actions such as the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu & Kashmir and the construction of the Ram Temple.
"Eliminating corruption has been one of our government's main goals for the past 10 years... I am dedicated to taking strong action against corrupt individuals," Modi stated. "No matter how much corruption there is, it affects the people of our nation... We will continue to take action against those who misuse funds meant for the welfare of our citizens."
Modi made these remarks during an election period when Opposition leaders have criticized the BJP for putting key figures like Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren in jail on corruption accusations. The Opposition claims that agencies like the Enforcement Directorate are working under the government's influence to tilt the election field in their favor, making it unfair for everyone else. These allegations come as general elections are set to begin on April 19.
